General description
The enactment of Law Number 14 of 2008 concerning Public Information Transparency is one of Indonesia's legal products. It was enacted in 2008 and enacted on April 30, 2008, and came into effect two years after its enactment. This law, consisting of 64 articles, essentially obligates every Public Agency to provide access to public information for every requester, with the exception of certain specific information.
Public Information is information generated, stored, managed, sent, and/or received by the Information and Documentation Management Officer (PPID) related to state administration and governance, as well as other information related to the public interest. Public Information Management is the process of collecting, processing, presenting, documenting, reporting, and providing services.
The development of information and communication technology, both electronic and non-electronic, has penetrated various aspects of life. This development requires all elements within these fields to keep pace with these developments. The same applies to the primary community of these technological developments, namely information. Information seems to be limitless. Everyone can now access a variety of information from various sources and through evolving technology and communication media.
The Information and Documentation Management Officer, hereinafter abbreviated as PPID, is the official responsible for storing, documenting, providing, and/or providing information services within the PPID. At the University of Riau State University (PTN), which is under the auspices of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, it serves Public Information Applicants who submit Public Information requests.
